SOME burned SVCDS skip at the end of the CD

I've searched the forums but didn't find anything on this so I guess I'll post:

On some CDs I find that they skip towards the end of the CD, but I can't figure out why this would happen and am just wondering what I should check. In other words, what could possibly affect this? The brand of my hardware dvd player (Sylvania DV2000)? Does the rate of burning affect this? Is my player possibly overheating by the end of the cd or something? What I can't figure out is that certain burns skip and others don't and I can't figure out the pattern.

Any suggestions welcome.

I would guess it's your media. If you have one of the newer high-speed burners the outer edge of the CD is actually burned at a much higher speed than the inner portions, so if you sometimes have problems at the end of the disc there's a good chance that's it. Try burning at a lower speed and see if your problems go away. If not, try some media from a different manufacturer.

Thanks. I don't have a particularly high speed burner (only 8x) but I suppose the theory is the same. I will try burning at 1/2 speed.
