  1. Does anyone have this video card? What have you heard about it? I want to buy a video card that has both tv-in and out jacks, and is low cost. This card will cost me about $105 Canadian Dollars, or about $65-70 USD.

  2. i have the AIW 128 Pro, which is very very similar, and it's very good. VCD realtime is a bit iffy, but SVCD (which needs a remux) is great with a 700+ Mhz (non-celeron) CPU.

however, i don't know the exact specs on the OEM Fury Pro, but the AIW 128 Pro is retailing around $100 US, and adds a tuner for sure, and also has s-video and composite inputs and outputs, whereas i'm not sure the fury has a s-video out. if you're planning to use a tv as a monitor, you really want an s-video for that, composite is very blurry. also, with an OEM, you may not get the install software CD, which you need to update the DVD player (which you need to fix capture problems in the MMC 7.1 software you'll be using. most of it can be downloaded, but the dvd update checks for an original cd. you can get the cds from ATI for like $10-15)

so it's probably not a bad deal, just make sure you know what you're getting with an OEM, and that it won't be missing any kind of connections you'd want.

  3. I have the Rage Fury Pro VIVO.

It has S-Video for output but only composite for input. I think the quality is okay and I can't really tell much if any of a difference between the composite in of the Rage vs. the S-Video in on the BT878 card I have.

I have never gotten the MMC software to run other than the first time I used. AFter that I have always gotten the blue screen of death when I try to run the Video In part of the program, but I will admit that I have not spent much time on trying to get it to work because I use another program for capture. It works fine with VirtualDub and VidCap using the VFW Wrappers.

It does not have a tuner, so if you are planning to hook it directly to cable to record tv you will need something else. But, if you are connecting to a sattelite tv receiver or a vcr then you will be fine.

The picture from the TV out to the tv is pretty good on both the composite and s-video side if you are going to be playing back videos you have recorded. For something like searching the web, I wouldn't recommend it. I have yet to see a TV being used as a monitor that I was terribly impressed with.
