    i have downloaded from several sites the nano dvd program and when i try to open and use it i ge tthe message "this copy is not registered" despite what i understood to be a free or a demo copy , a promised password never arrived and emails to hauppauge are just sending me in circles .. any onenow the solution please ? or a program that does the job as well ie capture in mpeg 1 instead of the avi my hauppauge tv card captures in ..

    The nanocosmos DVR does a poor job at capturing VCD video. You can go to the Nanocosmos web site and download a trial version there. It will also capture mpeg-2. However, the quality is poor. Ulead Videostudio or Moviefactory 2 does a much better job at real-time software mpeg captures. Nanocosmos does have a nice mpeg cutter/joiner, but it's $200. (it also comes bundeled with Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250)
