  1. Hi,

I was talking to a DVD authoring company regarding the encoding of some DV video I would like to put onto a DVD. They mentioned not to encode over 6000 kbits/sec because most DVD players will not be able to handle anything higher than that. Is there any standard encoding bit rate that I should live by? And what about VBR? I was acctually going to try and use variable...what settings would be appropriate?

    Thanks for your help,

    Z

well this has been mentioned here many times- but dvd players HAVE to able to handle 9.8meg / sec (on pressed dvd's) BUT on dvd-r or dvd +r disks many players can not properly handle that bit rate and i suggest to max at 7000 .. 6000 is even safer ..

if you used 7000 as max , VBR settings would be 7000 , 5500 , 1200 , well this is what i use anyway a lot of the time ..
