I usually use tmpgenc to encode the highest quality burns (just my preference). Something I found that works really good is that if you have something to burn and the quality to start with is at vcd (or vhs) quality or lower, you can only burn as good as that quality. For these items I have found that the mainconept encoder and the new ligos encoder are great. Both are much quicker that cce or tmpgenc. I have found that mainconcept will do more than the ligos as far as resizing and a few other things but either of these 2 can cut your encoding time by 1/2 to 2/3! Just thought I would pass the info on to other newbies who are still struggling to understand and master burning of movies and video.
