  1. I have a NEWBIE question. I ripped my first movie using smart ripper and that worked fine. I also used dvdx to change to vcd I guess. When that process is done, I can view the dvd on my pc a a MPG.

My big question is after I burn to CD using Nero. Why does the movie play n black and white on my dvd/vcd player? On the computer, the ripped file looks great. But when I burn and playback, the movie is black and white.

    Can someone help

This is one of the symptoms of playing a pal encoded movie on an ntsc tv, I assume you live in a region that uses NTSC ex:US or Canada.

I don't use DVDx but I assume it allows you to select pal or ntsc so make sure and select the right one.

In nero make sure you have it set to ntsc as well. This setting actually only refers to menu's but I believe some older versions of Nero had a problem where it effected the movie as well.

Pc monitors are multiscan so they can play either pal or ntsc encoded material...or any non-standard format for that matter.
