Recommending a good DVD player

I got my 4th DVD player in 2 months, a JVC XV-S300BK. I chose it because I need a player that plays DVD discs from different regions and plays VCD from PAL countries as well. Believe me, this one does. I like it very much, although it is a little expensive and it has the same problem of not showing the whole picture when playing PAL VCD.

i'm actually thinking of getting the JVC S500, which is similar to the 300 but adds optical out (hey i might need it!) and progressive scan (next tv will most likely support progressive). from reading the reviews on this site both the 300 and 500 seem to be able to play pretty much anything you throw at it.
