  1. I am trying to frameserve a movie with ac3 in tmpgenc with Virtual Dub. I am getting a message that tmpgenc cannot open the file or the file is unsupported. I have tried to set the direct show multimedia file reader and the avi compatibility reader higher.

    I am helpless

    Please help

Then you probably don't have a standard DivX. What is the file information when you open in Virtualdub?

It is possibly XviD. If you load the avi into Graphedit, what boxes come up?

  7. I have the xvid codec so i dont think that is the problem. Could it perhaps be a problem with false installing of virtual dub??????

Although XviD can supposedly load into TMPG, I get problems with it, unless I process it first with Graphedit. I really think it would reveal a lot more about what you have if you try it.

Do you frameserve with vdub audio set to direct stream copy. If so try setting it to audio and frameserve the video only. Convert the Ac3 to mp2 using Headach3he seperatley and then re-emultiplex.

  10. Have the videofile opened in graphedit. I can not see that it is a file in xvid. I see a divx decoder filter and a ac3 from avi xfrom.

  11. i am making the problem stranger. When i open the video file in tmpgenc i have no problems with the audio. I can convert it to mpg and i have no problems with the sound. Only when i open the video file in virtualdub to get a subtitle under it i get the message file is unsupported. Could it be a problem with virtual dub.

You would frameserve the video input through Vdub to allow for your subtitle filter, and then input your audio wav as the audio source, or use Headac3he, to turn the ac3 to mp2, then after you encode your video stream, multiplex as stated above in TMPG
