I have two Dragonball Z movies which are 2GB each. I would like to burn both of them onto same DVD+R. I saw the method on this forum showing how to do it few months ago, but can't be found.

Can someone remind me how to do it right? Thanks.

  2. Have U tried REMPEG to reduce the space the files take up. If you recode it by 35% you will fit both films on one DVD-R. First Uses smart ripper to rip film & audio. Audio file should be (AUDIO ENGLISH ac3.(6ch)48kHz)
Remember to DEMUX both files or it will not work properly. after rip you will have to rename the ac3. file and m2v file. ie: Dragonball.m2v and Dragonball.ac3

Next use REMPEG, and in MAIN choose OPEN load your m2v file only. After the computer has read all the frames (15-25 min). Next step goto options and set scale factor slider anywhere between 35 - 55% go back 2 MAIN and click ENCODE.

your 2 GB movie should now read between 1 -1.4 GB

I've used SPRUCE UP in the past and it takes the files in very fast indeed and you can AUTHOR your new Burn from that package....

Hope this is of some help

    moodie:

I have never use ReMPEG before, but this info will sure come in handy.

With each movie 2GB in size, I have no problem with space in DVDR. I just don't know about the layout when burn. I am sorry I am not clear on this thing.

After ripping and re-encode, I end up with two VTS_01_x.VOB files (2GB each). How am I going to burn with this? Should I just rename it and change the setting in IFOedit? Anybody experience with this?

    BTW, I am using Nero.

    Thanks.

Try this, as I saw if for joining trailers, etc. As you said, rename the VOB's to VTS_01_1.VOB and VTS_01_2.VOB. If any ifo'd currently exist, delete them. Then use ifoedit's create ifo function to create new ifo's. Do the get VTS sectors, save, then burn. This should work. let me know!

A thought....Is each VOB file 2gb in size??? If so, the advice I gave b4 will not work as VOB's can not exceed 1 gb in size. If this is the case you would need to find a way to rip them again so that this max file size is not exceeded. 8)

No, each movie is about 2GB in size, but spread out onto several VOB files. Trying your method now. Will let everybody know the result.

    Thanks again.

  8. You really don't want to use rempeg if you can help it - as long as you're going to author it with authoring software, you might as well use TMPGEnc or CCE to transcode the video - you'll get a much higher quality video. See one of the guides on the left for encoding.

Result is out. It works fine, except I have to fine tune it a little bit. Both movies has its own menu, which I forget to remove it from the beginning.

Yes, TMPGEnc or CCE does have better quality than ReMPEG, so I hear.
