  1. I recently purchased some VCD 2.0 discs from China. So far, I tried one Apex model and one RCA model, both of which claim to be VCD-playable. But both of them play my discs black and white with jumping screen. Just don't work. My wife is not happy because of this, and I am not happy because of her.

Can anyone here recommend a better model according to your personal experience? Preferrably some DVD player about $100, which can play VCD's from China.

    Any help would be appreciated.

maybe because your disks you bought are PAL and not NTSC (never believe anythjng on the packaging on china made disks- not format, type, dolby type or even whats on the disk - hahaha)

  3. Definitely a PAL/NTSC compatibility issue.

Get the owner's manual out for your DVD players. See if you can set it to force a NTSC output (or PAL). That is, have your DVD player do a PAL <--> NTSC conversion on the fly.

If it can do this, then it should solve your problems.

    Regards.
