  1. I am planning on getting a DVD burner soon. The reason is because I want to record TV to dvd. What would be a good TV tuner card to use to record TV on my computer then transfer to DVD? I was thinking about getting the Creative Digital VCR, but read about people having problems converting and recording to DVD. I am pretty new to all of this stuff. Some things that I am worried about are quality and sound in synch with video. So does anyone have any suggestions? I am looking to spend $100 or less. It would be nice if it at least has RCA input, but if it is good quality and cheap, it won't matter because I can just get a capture card. Any help will be much appreciated.

  2. There is a difference between a capture card and a tuner card.

Do you use Digital Satellite or Digital Cable?,
Forget about tuner cards then as they only work
    with analog cable & antenna.

But most Tuner card also have RCA/S-video capture
So you could use the capture part of this product.

Do you have a MiniDV camcorder?, they make great
capture cards if it have analog inputs.

  3. Thank you for replying. I was thinking and realized that there is a video in on the back of my computer. I realized that if I hook the video out from a tv or vcr, I can record like that without having to use a tuner card. I do not have satelite or digital cable, just regular. I also do not own a DV Camcorder. I do have to buy a RCA-phono-to-1/8"-stereo-jack in order to get sound though. Now all I need is the DVD Burner. I was afraid about quality and when comparing the monitor to the TV, my Monitor was giving me better quality. I recorded a little bit of Fastlane a little while ago. I had to find an mpeg2 codec then it took awhile to get it working for some reason. For awhile it was playing it as an audio file even after I had downloaded the codec. I am giong to play around with different file types and see how everything works. This should be good enough for what I want to do, correct? The card I have(my dad's computer) is a ATI Rage 128 Pro with Video In/out. So it uses ATI VCR and all of that stuff. I've never thought about using it until now. Thanks again.

  4. Yes a VCR makes a good tuner.

Good thing about PCI tuners is that you can have
a 16 channel screen preview and if you use the PC
as a digital VCR you can set it up to record different
    channels at diffrent times.

The audio cable is talked about here:
