what are you askin' me for...
I'm an idiot! -
Fame was a cheesey 80's movie about a load of dancers
but, Frameserving is this:
http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubframeserve.htm
... basically where you get a program like virtualDub to send a video file (e.g. an .avi) to another program like TMPGEnc frame-by-frame (as in like a slideshow of individual pictures). The encoder (TMPGEnc in this case) then puts all the images back together as a (different) video file again, but you've changed the format, and possibly passed the images through a filter in the process.
VirtualDub is a good program for frameserving to encoders, as it has loads of options for filters (to clean up the image quality, or maybe add subtitles etc..) and you can pass the audio track across at the same time - although you don't have to do this - you can do the audio separately and join (multiplex) the video and audio together later.
- someone else might be able to give you a better definition.. but I hope that explains it a bit!
cheers,
