  1. I have read many people claiming to have created 600 file+ photo CD's in Nero simply by dragging and dropping. I've also read that the limit is 99 files.

Interestingly, my 9 month old Nero appeared to work OK w/500 files (even though I only tried it once). However, I upgraded because it didn't work w/my brand new TDK CDRW. The upgrade would only do 99 files! So it appears that both reports may be true.

So what's the story? Is there a trick or special configuration to get Nero to put more than 99 pictures on a CD? Why would one version of Nero do this when a very minor revision later it wouldn't? Makes no sense to me.

  2. PS - why didn't searching the boards work with "99" - there are quite a few posts on the 99 file limit so I thought seaching for "99" would return them all - I guess the search feature doesn't recognise numbers?

By the way, I tried every combination of settings in Nero - menu's on/off, compliant/noncompliant, etc. still no luck with the latest Nero. Yet I know people have been very sucessful with some versions of Nero.

VCD's are track based... CD's generally only allow 99 tracks ( it's a limitation in the format )

Photo CD's might be different, Photo montages encoded to video would be different, but VCD is limited to 99 tracks.

Hmm.. nero .14 appears to be adding them as segment items, not tracks so there should not be a limit.

    Weird.

  5. The segment-item limitation is 1980, which is WAY more than enough if you plan on putting your original high quality files in the filesystem as well.

Nero's limitation is a software design limitation...
