  1. I just ran across an article about DDCD on the web. What happened to DDCD? Is it dead? Are there any stand-alone DVD players that can read DDCD?

    Thanks!

  2. Was it ever really alive??

DDCD could only be used for data CDs so there would have been no point for a DVD player to read DDCDs.

Use the search feature as DDCD's have been discussed on many occasions. It's a DOA format.

  5. DOA ? not DAO ?
I thought it was a real different media type, which is why you need to buy those special 1.3gb media, which of course are only supported by a no longer being sold drive.

Sony has some good stuff, but they've also got this habit of creating formats that most (but not all) average North American consumers just don't care about:

    Betamax
    SACD
    Memory Stick
    DDCD
    MiniDisc
    DAT
