    what is the simplest text editor that show line numbers?
    I am getting frustrated with error messages that returns a line number.

    I'll assume you're on Windows, since that's the only platform that seems to truly lack decent text editors. I think that PFE (Programmers File Editor) shows line numbers, and it's pretty simple.

    yes you are right. I am using the XXXXXXX M$ windows. Thanks for your suggestion. I'll give the PFT a try.
