  1. I am doing some tv captures from TVLand and I have run into a problem. Frequently at the end of a show the station compresses the credits into the right half of the screen while it show previews of the upcoming show on the left half of the screen.

Is there any way to undo this process so that the credits show full screen. I realize that there would probably be some quality loss because half of the pixels are missing, but it would be better than leaving it as-is.

I have this video as an avi file and I am using VirtualDub (doesn't everybody) to edit / filter the file before encoding.

    Thanks

  2. VirtualDub and using just one filter will do it.

    Filter: Resize.

After you selected it it also allows you to sett cropping.

So if you crop it halfway but at the same time resize it back to
regular 480 pixels (or 720 for dvd)

  3. That sounds great.

    One catch.

TVLand usually has the upcoming previews slide in from the left until it reaches mid screen. The right side crunches down until it is only half the sreen width.

Can you think of any way to handle this?

  4. How to take care of the one second when it is doing the "slide"?

Cut it up to 1/4seconds and adapt resize/crop a little bit at time.

I heard of a filter that can controll other filter,
So you could set up: start 0 end 240 @ 50 frames for x-offset

So maybe you could set it up do a perfect "undo" of tvlands squees
