  1. I'm having trouble with TMPGenc 2.57 plus ultra. Using the wizard results in a fine SVCD (burned with NERO 5.5.9.9) but has a rough view when the clip shows a part where the DVcam has moved horizontally. (like following a car passing by) When using user set settings it isn't getting any better. Last attempt was with 2passVBR and every havy duty setting there is. Got me even the motion search precision on the highest quality (Damn this takes time) and now my movie has a shakie section. The edges are always fine. The orignal file is an AVI edited pinnacle and rendered to AVI again with a DV codec. There has to be a way to get a nice and shiny SVCD so don't let me down on this one. The TMPGenc wizzard getz close to the perfect SVCD but there has to be a better way.

  2. Make sure you have the right settings to encode DV source.

    "Interlaced" and "Bottom field first"

    Motion search: "highest (very slow)"

    2pass VBR, 2520 average, 3500 max (if dvd player can handle it)

    You could adjust the average bitrate from 2520 to 3500
    if your dvd player can handle xsvcd

    But will cut down on the amount of minutes you can store on the disc.

    Still not happy, get a DVD Burner.

  3. Thanks for your reaction but I've tried these settings already. The thing is that I can't rais the BR. The max setting I can adjust is maxBR 2520 and Average BR 1950. My 1st reaction was to rais BR to ....? but higher then 2520. My dvd player should play XSVCD as I read in the forum that somebody already managed that. Any more ideas to get this thing fixed?

    I raised BR using the following method:
    1. used a wizard with some avi sample file, selected SVCD-PAL as target
    2. saved settings to file mySVCD.mcf
    3. opened this file mySVCD.mcf in notepad and changed few lines:
    MPEG.Video.VBR_AvgBitRate = 2500000
    MPEG.Video.VBR_MaxBitRate = 3500000
    MPEG.Video.VBR_MinBitRate = 1500000
    4. now I can load settings from this hacked file!

  5. MrKGB try to load unlock.mcf in the subdir after you chose your svcd template and you can go skyhigh with your BR.
    Luck
