  1. I have an avi file. The video plays fine but I can't hear any audio. I know the audio is encoded in Windows Media Audio v2. Where can I find the codec? Please, I don't want to install the Nimo codec pack.

I just want a standalone codec which allows me to hear the audio in the avi file.

And yes,. ive tried installing the codecs package from:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp

    But that doesn't work either.

Please, there must be a solution to this.

your file is most likely an asf misnamed as an avi. you have several options one of which should work.

    1 download windows media tools.
    2. download stoik media convertor www.stoik.com
    3. download virtuladub 1.3c
    4. download windows media player 9.
    5. download windows movie maker and render files as avi.
    or
    6.dowwnload asf tools.3.1
