  1. I've downloaded a file with an avi extension!
When trying to view it it is all black!
Have tried to open it in both media player and in quicktime but nothing seems to work.
Have tired to convert it to .mpeg with TMPGEnc and it works ok, but when viewing it it is all black!
How can i do to watch it?

  2. Can you hear sound? When I can hear sound and see no picture, but when its converted it works ok- for me that is just a result of my shit computer not being able to cope with a large avi file. Thats why i like MPEG more.

If it works fine once its in MPEG, it usually means you don't need to install any codecs, bacause it has used them to convert. Or did you mean its BLACK in MPEG too?? . . . in that case you might need to install a codec. Perhaps the file was just a dud you downloaded.

I dont know, VCD is such a complex thing.
