  1. Hi, I'm new to the encoding scene, I have a divx at 23fps and I want to convert it to a svcd so I can watch it on my dvd player.
I went to the guides and found the right one for TMPGenc (http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencsvcd.htm)
And I've now tried to do 3 times with no luck. It seems to encode fine but when it gets to my dvd player it plays about 3 seconds then hangs.
So I went back and looked at the guide to make sure I was doing every thing right, when I noticed the guide says:
'If the source is 29fps use ntsc, if it's 23fps use ntsc film, if it's 25fps use pal'
Now when I check out VCD, these numbers match up, BUT, when you click on the svcd options and even in the screen shot (http://www.vcdhelp.com/images/tmpgencsvcd1.png), when the NTSC FILM is selected, it says 29FPS??
Now is this me being stupid or do I need to convert the frame rate or something to get a svcd out of this divx I got??

    Any ideas??

    Cheers

Please also do NOT post same msg in several forums!

Have you only tried once? Maybe a bad burn?

  10. Btw, I posted the same topic once in one other forum because I noticed that it was probably more suited to be in there than here, and I also had had no joy. I apologise for repeating the post.

  11. Unfortunatly my dvd player doesn't like cdrw's. It'll take virtualy anything else. I've tried both Pal and NTSC when burning - no joy. Is there any other decent burning software about for burning (s)vcd's just incase its Nero that is causing the problems??

  13. Thanx for the link Baldrick-I'll take a look.
Yeah, I have about 10 other svcd's that play fine on it, all of these have been d/l as svcd tho, not me trying to re-encode to svcd, then burning.

  15. NERO SUCKS!!
After all the messing about with TMPGenc, muxing/demux/muxing/demuxing crap, I install VCDEASY (quality!! ), force the aspi on it, burn, and it works first time. -It was Nero all along.
Never again will again will I use that crap.
Sorry to you lovers of Nero, but imho it SUCKS.
VCDEASY is just as easy and works first time-no messing -Try it!
