Hi all, i was just wondering how TDK DVD-R discs were, i basically want to stick with name brand disc instead of wasting money testing out these crappy discs from Princo and such, i got a reputable site selling them for 2.95 a peice ,which is cheap compared to everywhere else and free shipping(at least for now) so im curious on other peoples experience burning with the TDK DVD-R disc. Thanks

Stay with TDK, you are on the right track. I have been using low cost disks for several months now and thought they worked fine, mainly becuase they played well on both of my DVD players.
To my surprise once I bought a portable DVD player the truth finally showed it's grusome head. The cheap disk didnot play well in the player. I then decided to use a name brand and I tried TDK. To my surprise every disk I created played on both my home DVD players as well as the portable, and even my son's Playstation 2.
I now respect the need to use good quality disks.

They are 2.24 at above site -
PCStop now sells TDK for over $5.00, I guess the old saying supply and demand shows it ugly face again.

Beware of unbranded TDK's. TDK is having a problem with pirates hijacking their name for phoney DVD-R's(they even show up as TDK's using ADVDINFO). There is a guy on eBay selling these "TDK's" in 100 piece spindles packs for about $189.00 - TDK does NOT sell their disks in this method (according to TDK of America).

use http:\\vcdhelp.pricegrabber.com to look for prices on the tdk 10-pack. Usually around $30-40 (too bad I didn't buy when one place was selling for $25 for the 10-pack). I'm not 100% sure if that part number corresponds to ver. 1 or ver. 2 DVD since I haven't ordered that part number yet (but at least it's a real TDK part number, unlike a lot of the places that sell the unbrande discs).
