  1. I'm trying to create a menu using DVDit ver 2.1 PE, but when I create a DVD folder (for testing), I get an error on my mpeg files: "Each GOP header must be preceded by a sequence header." I'm using mpeg2 files that I encoded in TMPGEnc. In TMPGEnc under GOP Structure, my settings are:

    # of I Picture: 1
    # of P Picture: 5
    # of B Picture: 2
Output Interval of sequence header: 1
MAX # of frames in GOP: 18
Output bitstream for edit: checked and unchecked (I tried both ways)
    Detect scene change: checked

I'm not sure if the problem is in the encoding or if it's a problem in DVDit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  2. You need to make sure TMPGENC is setup to generate a Header everytime - this is DVD standard.

Take a look at the Guides here, there are some very good walkthroughs of TMPGENC and how to make DVD compliant MPEG 2 files.

I've used TMPGENC and DVDIT and had the exact same problem, till I realised that I had forgot to make by GOP changes.

  3. I followed the guides to a T, except the guide I needed for converting AVI to DVD MPEG2 shows how to create it through the wizard only; it's not a manual setup.

  4. Ok, Have you look at this page ?

    http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0165394101/TMPGEnc_Template.html

Output interval of header: 1 (very important)
This tells TMPGEnc to include a header describing each GOP (group of pictures) before the actual GOP. This is required by many authoring programs.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Thanks for your help Andy, but if you check my original post, I have the output interval of sequence header set at 1. As a matter of fact, I used that guide to set the GOP structure.

  6. You might want to try getting the patch for your DVDit!. I've had similar
problems recently, until I downloaded the 2.54 upgrade/patch.

Oh, forgot to mention; I'm using LE, and I had v2.30.

  7. Hmmm.. Very Strange....

Have you looked at these utils.

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/download/MPEG-Corrector.zip - Fixes dodgy MPEGs

http://www.tecoltd.com/bitratev.htm Lets you examine a lot of settings for your MPEGs - May give you some clues.

Sorry I could not of been more help.

  8. Thanks for trying, Andy.

A patch for DVDit!?... Where can I find it? I went to their website under support, but all they had were upgrades (more $$). Is this what you were referring to?[/u]

  9. Two things to try.

1st is quick and easy. OPen your mpg in wmp. Play a few seconds and hit pause. Minimize (Do not close) WMP, then open Dvdit and proceed.

If this doesnt fix the problem, re-encode your video with exact same settings except set # of P Picture: 4. Although it should not be required for DVD, it seems DVDit prefers this setting!

    Hope this helps

I had the very same problem CiCi4 only last week using sonic's DVDitse.I tried all different gop settings in TMPGEnc and all gave the sme error as yours.problem is the only solution for me was to use spruceup or dazzle dvd.I have also since found that if you use CCE to encode DVDit will accept the mpeg, and as CCE is alot faster than TMPGEnc i suggest you use that.If you havn't got it try downloading from KaZZa..........

If you have a v2.50, you should be able to get the patch. If not (which is my case, as I had v2.3), you need to send an email to serialnumbers@sonic.com. In the email, you need to provide:

    Current Product:
    Current Version:
    Serial Number:
Where did you receive your current product:

Condition is that your DVDit 'SHOULD' be a registered copy. They will reply to you with a link to the download site. I was able to download the full installer (141MB) for FREE.

Like I said, I had LE v2.3, and it pukes on whatever MPEG2 that I give her (encoded via TMPGENC, using DVD template, and yes, I 'played' with the GOP thingies). But right after the upgrade/patch, she accepted the same MPEG2, no questions or anything.

    hope this helps.

  12. Thanks all for your help! I'll try all your suggestions... just curious, is there a better authoring software I should try instead of DVDit?

  13. Did you ever figure out how to work around this problem? I'm having the same exact problem and don't really want to go back and re-encode unless I absolutely have to. Thanks.

  14. Hello all, looks like the upgrade to 2.5 did the trick, no glitches at all now. Kinda disappointed in their 2.1 version though (bad programming on their part). Anyway, thanks for your help!
