  1. I have a couple of questions. First do I need a dvd burner to take movies I have saved onto my pc and make them into a dvd, or to burn them. Or can I use a regualr cd burner once I convert them. My second question I just want to know wether I have this right. Can I take movies I have downloaded off line, that are Dvix or other files and convert them into dvd playable movies?

  2. 1) You can make VCDs, SVCDs, or miniDVDs on your CD burner on CD blanks. It takes a DVD burner to make a DVD. VCD, SVCD, & miniDVD don't play on all standalone DVD players - see the DVD players list on this site to check your model #.

    2) Yes you can take web content & convert it to a format above.

See the How To Newbie, How to Convert, & How to Author sections to the left of this screen to learn more.
