  1. I think im gonna start ripping DVD's and making them into VCDs or XVCDs, and i'd like to know the best way to do it. first, best ripper prog? once its in avi i think i'll use TMPGEnc, what settings should i use for decent quality but not too much space? (i've also seen DVDx, havent downloaded yet, is it good?) hopefully i can get a 1h 45m movie onto 2 discs but i dont see that happening without sacraficing a lot of quality. lastly, with the VCDs i've been making, my dvd player from Sony pauses for about 5-10 secs while continuing to the next chapter..is that normal? (used NERO to burn) that would really suck when a full length movie is going on. thanks for the feedback, -Nate
btw, i saw a post about someone fitting 90min onto an 80min disc...how? i didnt really understand.

  4. For best results make SVCDs and encode with CCE. Give DVD2SVCD a try (www.doom9.org) you'll have to use CCE 2.5sp (there's a link for it below the DVD2SVCD software bundle). This is the demo ver of CCE, it'll put a watermark/logo in the bottom right of the screen. I've heard that there's a crack for this thou

As for the pauses that only happens between different MPEG files. When you rip a DVD -> MPEG it's just one big file so no pauses.

I haven't tried DVDx, but people seem to like it.
