I wanted to put a movie on VCD. However, I changed it from .avi to .mpeg but there was no sound when I opened it. So, I had to use virtual dub to get the sound. So, I did it over and I split the video in half because it was too long for 1 CD. So my question is.... I have the audio file (which is the whole movie) and now I must remake the .mpeg videos again with the sound and they are in 2 parts ...now when I want to blend the 2nd half of the video with the audio am I going to get the 2nd half of the audio or the first half all over again?

You're a little vague as to how you "changed it" from AVI to MPEG, but if you have 2 video mpegs and 1 audio file (what format is this in? WAV? MP2?), then you better split this too. Which could be a little of a pain to get done right (not to cause sync problems in the 2nd part).
If you still have the AVI, I'd recommend encoding it in 2 parts WITH sound instead of going thru all the hazzle of splitting the audio at the exact right point.

Oh, my 100th post! I'd better go out an buy me a bottle of Moët! -
Well I tried to split the video WITH the sound .....but when I opened the file as an mpeg to view to see if it came out all right ..there was no sound. So I read in the manuel to take the audio with virtualdub. I was going to make the audio file in .wav but I didn't have enough drive room....so I made into .mp3 (which took forever). How do I get the sound with the video using tmpgenc? If I cannot do that ..how do I split the sound ?
Thanks -
There should not be any problems with encoding an AVI to (S)(X)VCD MPEG. Install the Nimo codec pack (and remove the spyware afterwards with AdAware) and give it another go.
If you're going the path of splitting the audio, there's no(?) other option than to save it out as WAV and split it with Goldwave, CoolEdit, Soundforge or any other audio editing software. But then, if you're short on drive space, this will give you twice the trouble - first the whole WAV, then 2 * half of it.

I have the Nimo codec pack ...but i didnt get rid of the spyware..is that the reason? should i try another movie to see if that was the only movie it happens to ... and i cant split a .mp3 file?
thanks -
No, I just suggested cleaning out the spyware 'cause that's something I'd do as I don't like spyware- it doesn't affect funtionality at all.
I don't think you can split an mp3 without taking the round trip over a wav. Any audio editing s/w will, at least internally, decode the mp3 to something resembling uncompressed WAV format before anything can be done to it, so HDD space will be an issue unless you don't have plenty of RAM.
Try some other AVI - Your problematic AVI may have the audio encoded in some exotic way that not even Nimo covers.
But try this: Frameserve from VirtualDub with audio (Audio: Full processing, AVI audio) to TMPGEnc and encode it in 2 parts.

I would start from scratch:
1)You already have the full WAV
2)In TMPGE open Avi (remember to set Audio Source for your WAV)and load your chosen template.
3)In Advanced > Settings > Source range ..double click on it > slide pointer to end of movie > determine what half of movie length will be > slide bar back to halfway point and click on Set End Frame (Start frame should already be 0) > go back to main page and set output file name to "movie-1.mpg" > File > Save Project > save > then go back to the source range again > type what was the end frame of part one in the Start Frame box > Type end of movie frame number in Set End Frame box > Change Output File Name to "movie-2.mpg" > File > Save Project > Save.
4)Now press Ctrl + N (to clear info) > File > Batch Encode > Add > Movie-1 > add > Movie-2 > Run.
Then it will encode the movie into the two parts you want"Today is only yesterdays tomorrow"
