When I burned a VCD with Nero,
my stand-alone DVD-player only played the movie not the sound.
And what's a movie without sound!![]()
So if anybody could help me ...
Thanks in advance![]()

So, what did you use to encode your MPEG, and in what format was the original?
You have to give more details - the more the merrier!

Sounds Like your audio on the original recording was not at 44.1 or 48 khz what evers. I believe the encoder misses anything else.
In reading the replies it sounds like there are a lot of people who don't get enough sleep in USA.
Lighten up fellows
Thanks to the person who sent the virus to me, Norton handled it ok!!!
Lucky I keep updated.

Sorry for the late reply
I encode the mpegs with: tmpg Version: 2.50.32.120,
and I burn my cd's with: Nero Version: 5.5.9.9
I used all different kinds of formats,
and everytime I play the movies I don't get sound with it ...
And btw,
I play the movies on a >Pioneer DV-444< -
- How about your source? convert from divx, asf rm etc... or rip from dvd???????????????
- Is there this problem with your source??????????
- Did that mpg file (before burning) play fine (with sound) on your PC?????????
- Have you check this Guide http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm and this NOTE with audio error http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm -
I'm very new at encoding, I have read that all SVCD MPEG 2 encoders will only encode 22 44.1 & 48 khz audio. I believe 22 is automatically reencoded to 44.1 khz
If I'm on the right path, your original recoding must have the above audio settings.
If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will pick up on it.
I had the same problem. I use Ulead Studio 4, Media pro 6.5, And Adobe Premier, burn with Nero 5599 with it's encoder, 45 min takes about 3 hours to encode into SVCD on my computer, I'm still a learner.
Cheers

I tryed almost every format, but with no succes.
The mpg did play correctly with sound on my pc,
And there's notting about this problem in the guides,
that's why I'm asking for help on the message-board.
So does no body know what I can do to make it work propperly? -
I used tmpg v. 2.50.32.120 with the original settings-template,
and I also tryed to use a 44.1 khz wave file as audio input,
and it had know effect ... -
After burnning, Can your PC play VCD Disc (not mpg file) with sound?
When you burnt with NERO, Did it ask to re-encode mpg file again?
Can you try to burn in other method, like create bin/cue file with VCDeasy, TSCV and see if that problem still there?
I assumed you load default template in TMGPEnc. What template did you use? any tweaking? -
If I want to play it on my pc, I first need to download a vcd player,
(I'm looking for it right now),
but while I search for it, here are the template settings:
MPEG-1 320x240 30fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 192kbps
And nero didn't re-encode the mpg.
And I don't know how to burn a VCD in an otherway but the original way -
You might as well look for PowerDVD 4.0XP for this.
Now look at your setting, it is not standard vcd.
Std Vcd should be 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150, Audio layer2 44.1Khz 224kbit/sec.
I suggest you try to load default template(videoCD NTSC) in TMPGEnc and see you get sound this time.
NOTE you can try a short clip let say 3-5 mins (using source frame range), then burn with NERO into CDRW and play in your player. -
Your right my settings were for pal Svcd and I need to encode to pal vcd,
I'll try it right away. -
I'm glad you got it to work.
Next time if you have problem give all the detail, eh?
BTW that 320x240 not really for PAL. It is the one using in some capture card with 4:3 display, which you need to convert to standard pal or ntsc spec (pal = 352x288 25fps, ntsc = 352x240 29.97 or 23.976fps).
