  1. hi .. I think thinking of converting the security system to digital thus I need more info whether it's possible to replace the 2 VCR with just one PC and capture the input from the camera? Equipment include Hardware mpeg1/2 card and with a raid 0.

    Possible ?

    Sure you can!.

    Use something like InterVideo's WinCoder.

Then you can record from a cheap WinTV card via Composite from your camera.

You can only record from one source, I believe, with a capture card.

So you can put a switcher to alternate between both cameras into the capture board.

However, if you want to capture both video streams simultaneously, I think you'll need 2 PC's. Not sure on that one, because I've never tried 2 capture cards in a PC at the same time.

    Hope this helps,

  4. Did you ever get that setup? I was hoping to do the same thing, but with 3 or 4 feeds at the same time, also for a home security system. I don't want to pay $900 for the Videum 4400, but I'm worried that 3 or 4 capture cards in one machine will cause quite a few problems. Any advice would be appreciated.
