Smartripper and Disk Space

Heya,

I've been doing good with the ripping for SO long, I knew it was too good to be true!

I have a 60 Gig drive that I do my DVD things on. I've gotten down to about 11 gigs, and not Smartripper is telling me I don't have any disk space available. I removed/changed a few things to see if that made any difference and it hasn't. I've also tried doing the ripping to another drive with ample free space and that didn't work either.

I know without a doubt I've not changed a thing in any of those programs. Would anyone have any idea why this is happening or how to get it to acknowledge that I have free space?

Any help would be appreciated!

how much free space does smartripper indicate that you have?

how about in windows explorer when u do right click?...

sometimes i have to run norton disk doctor because my hd reports my free space incorrectly (i.e. i would lose 10 gigs for no reason)

Smartripper says I have zero left. Exploder says I have 11 GB left. I don't let any third party utilities mess with my fat tables, NTFS partitions or OS. Smartripper is a freebie, isn't it? I don't guess it would cripple itself, would it?

Since you brought it up what OS or OS's are you running? If it's Win2K or Windows XP I'd do a boot time check disk to confirm your MFT hasn't become corrupted and afterwards run disc clean-up then do a complete defrag to free up some disc space. You can do the same in Win ME or 98 except for the boot time check disk. In this case run a full scandisk but be prepared for it to take a while. In either case any errors in the partition table should show up and be corrected. Another thing to consider is if your drive is highly fragmented this makes it just that harder to write to the disc since the file your writing to will be spread out all over the drive and can cause false error messages such as no space. Try what I've outlined and if SmartRipper still gives you the same error then it's definitely busted.
