  1. I recently "acquired" 3 movies, two in XCD format (OGM) and one in SVCD format. I store all movies on my HDD so I extract the files from the BIN/CUE file. The samples of these movies all played fine, as I have all the appropriate codecs installed (Ogg-Vorbis and MPEG-2.) I extract the files from the BIN/CUE using CDMage. The XCD has DAT files and the SVCD had and MPG file. I should then be able to play them off the hard drive, but I can't. As I stated before, the samples provided on newsgroups played fine on all 3 movies. I also tries IsoBuster and same results. I burned one of the XCD's and installed the RIFF thing so my comp could recognize them and the same result. (WMP says Invalid format, WinDVD will not play them, just gray screen.)
All other movies that were not originally in a BIN file play fine (SVCD/DivX/Xvid.) Sounds like a problem wiith Mode2/2352 maybe?? SVCD's and XCD's use that format I think.

  2. Have you tried mounting the Bin/cue files as a virtual drive volume using Daemon Tools?

This way Windows will think the XCD and SVCD are just the discs in the drive, and you should b e able to play them using WinDVD just fine.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need more detailed information

  3. I just mounted the image and the same result. I already extracted the images to harddrive anyway. Thanks, though, I can see tons of uses for Daemon Tools, great program. I don't think the problem lies in file systems or CD-ROM issues anyway, it's almost like there is some invalid header information in these files that fools the video programs. Kinda funny this happens from 3 different sources, though. I can download svcd's and play them all day, if not contained in a BIN file first.

  4. Were all three of these images created by the same person? Do you have other images of this type that work fine? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, then I would suspect that your problem lies in the way in which these images were created, or they have become corrupted somehow. You may not be able to do anything about it in this case.

    Sorry,
