  1. Help... I am putting movies onto VCD using Nero - One 70 min movie coded using TMPGEnc always ends up 1Gb-ish. Not a prob, split it ustingDVTool 0.31 - end up with 2 Mpegs... burn both onto CD as VCD - 1st one works, second doesnt!! Tried authoring and burning with Ulead DVD MovieFactory and it says the 2nd half is not a valid file format - BUT both play OK on PC before burning on disc... PLEASE HELP

80 minutes of movie will fit on an 80 minute CD, and typically the mpeg will be around 790MB. Something strange is happening, or you are doing something wrong.

  3. I thought that wasn't right, but I am using all the default settings in TMPGEnc and it usually says movie will be 118% (or thereabouts) of a 80min CDR, but the final file is massive & definately needs 2 CDRs. I wonder if the second MPG is losing header info? But I dont know how to check or correct this.

I've never heard of anything like this. The Video settings screen should be all greyed out, except the motion search precision setting. If the bitrate is 1150 kbps you should definitely get almost 80 minutes per CD.

    (1150+224) X 79 x 60 /8 /1024 = 795 MB

You should easily get 79 minutes on an 80 minute CD!

  7. Never mind - I'm not too worried about the file size, but any ideas why the second disk doesnt play in my DVD player while the first does?

Nope. Try TMPG's mpeg tools to split your mpeg, and burn with Nero's VCD option. Although I would be more worried why the mpeg you are getting is not ~700MB!

  9. Thanks Banjazzer - I have got it to work by creating two MPGs using TMPGEnc. 1st from frame 0 to half way thru film, then 2nd from half way to end.
