post news on the main page?

I was thinking of adding more news to our main page but it is not that easy to find all "fun" news myself.

So is anyone interested in gathering and post news on the main page about stuff like new guides on other sites, new vcd,svcd,dvd stuff and new tools?

You will be post the news directly from your browser similiar like post a forum post with a very short topic and a short news post.

What about a new forum where anyone can post news
with a valid url link - Admin approved articles to be displayed in short
on the front page (users nick to be displayed also) with a link back to the forum article for more detail.

This way many hands make light work.

Setup like:

1 [ brief description of news ] > output for front page
2 [ url for more info ]
3 [ detailed info


]
4) [date/time for sorting ]

Moderators could be given approval / editing permissions.

where should I have the news forum ?

i have it under Other now but it maybe it should be under Video...or? i'm working on a way so admins or moderators can some how "mark" a news topic so it will be included on the main page.
