  1. Hi there,

I usually convert my AVIs with TMPgenc to VCD. Now I have a couple of files which play fine with the usual codecs, however I cannot convert them, the sound cannot be converted. When I enter the file in tmpenc, the sound source stays empty and when I try to add the same file as sound source it tells me that the cannot be opend or or would be unsupported.

    Any hints?

    Thanx

try extracting just the audio with virtual dub and check the audio file in cool edit or sound forge. check if the audio source actually has data or some how got corrupted. might be an empty audio file. if all is well just try re-muxing the file in the approriate format

  3. I tried to extreact with wirtual dub, just as you recommended - however it didn't work.

When I check the File Information for that file it tells me that the audio has 48000Hz, 5 Channels (Stereo) and the compression would be unknown (Tag 2000) - what ever that means .......

    Any further Hint?

  4. Ok, I am bit more clever now: the file is DIVX 3, and the audio is AC3 coded - how do I convert this to a VCD compatible file with TMPgenc?

  5. or simply rename the wav file to something.ac3 and
tmpgrenc should load it fine (if your ac3 audio codecs are loaded) 8)

there are several programs as well that will let you extract the .ac3 file and then convert it to a pcm wav file. check the tools section under audio or checkout doom9's website
