  1. what is better, a divx file, or regular avi.?

    i usually make my movies with dvdx, to make a divx, and other people use dvd2avi, so i am wondering what is better to do, or if they r the same?

  2. There is no 1 avi format. AVI encompasses ALOT of different codecs. Different ways of compressing video to make it smaller. Divx and MPEG4 in general are the best to highly compress them and keep good quality. Size is relative to what codec and what settings you choose. the RGB codec which is NO compression at all is HUGE. Like say depending on video size 10s of MB a SECOND!!!! Thats alot of data. At average quality that would give you about 10 mins of video before you reach a file size of 2GB!

    I would suggest using divx or MPEG4 both are great codecs. As for the quality like I said before its up to what you see as good quality. What one person sees as good quality another may say sucks. Just fiddle with the bitrate settings and see what suits you best and retains the most quality.
