  1. I'm a newbie so please bare with and help me out!
Every time I decode a .avi(divx) that has 23.976 fps to svcd using NTSC FILM template in TMPEG, the picture is half black/half color or it flips from color to bw! I'm in NTSC land.

Would some one please help me out here. I've did few posts but did not get any answer.

I hear some converting to 29.x but doesn't give a clear explanation of how to do it or where to get the guide, also won't that cause audio sync?!

When to use VCD or SVCD?!

    Thanks.

  2. In TmpGenc, go to settings-advanced and ensure the 3:2 pulldown option is set. Then encode, burn and play. This way the pulldown flags are present in the mpg file and it is not up to the DVD player to try and perform this operation, which some do not do well. It might help.

  3. bugsters right use the 3:2 pulldown option. Just remember this only works for MPEG2 (SVCD). For VCD you should just be able to leave the framerate unchanged since 23.976 fps is a valid VCD framerate.

Don't jump to SVCD just because you heard its better, load a NTSC VCD template in TMPGEnc and start, change nothing. If your original is a DVD Rip (DivX AVI) then the VCD will be as good as a DVD

After this, the sky is the limit , but until then start with the basic VCD.

Oh, and if the AVI or any source is not a DVD rip, then there is no point at all in making a SVCD, you wont get better quality.... Crap in Crap out
