    OK, here we go.
I've got loads of d/ld' films which I need to convert to Mpeg so I can cut and burn them using TMPEGnc.
Some i've been able to do but some I can't. I get this error message.
'Can not open or unsupported' when I try to select the audio and sound using the wizard.
I tried extracting the sound and converting to wav seperately using virtualdub but get this error

'The requested compression is not compatible with the input format, check the sample rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format.'

    I just don't get it

The films are .avi............I've converted and cut some films already using this software already, presumably they were a different format to start with.
    Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Whenever I get that error message, I just go to Tools --> MPEG Tools... and use the "Simple Multiplexing" tab to convert the file to a useable format.

I'm still just getting in to all of this myself, so I don't really don't know if the above information will help you or not. It's just what I try first...

Aaaah, when I tried that I noticed that the only files that showed up are Mpeg's and not the .avi files I have (the avi's are the ones I want to convert).
Do you think a avi to mpeg converter will do it?.
The one I have keeps giving error messages (avi2mpg2)

Need help, I'm fumbling around in the dark right now.....Cheers

I'm sorry man! Brain fart. Yeah, MPEG Tools are only for MPG files, not AVI. I'm at a loss for now, too.

  6. Try this:

Open TMPG up and go to the Option Menu - Environmental Setting.

    Goto the VFAPI plug-in tab.

Right-click on the Directshow Multimedia FIle Reader and choose higher priority. Do this until it says 1 or 2 in the right hand column. Then try and load your .avi again. This worked for me when I first started out. I got it from the convert from avi guide on the left.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers.
