  1. I having a problem getting my dvd-r's to play on the XBOX and a second drive (DVD-ROM) in my computer. I have tried both TDK and a generic brand of DVD-r disc in addition to the DVD-RW that came with my Pioneer-AC3 burner. All disc will play on a stand alone player (Pioneer DV440) and my DVD burner (Pioneer AC3). I am using NERO 5.8.8.2 to burn the files. Has anyone had any luck with the XBOX, or have any ideas about why the discs will not play?

In addition I have a question reguarding the burnning process. Does the order of the files in the VIDEO_TS folder on the DVD-R matter? When I burn using the Nero DVD-VIDEO wizzard it will not let me change the order of the files, but they are not in the same order as the files on the orginal dvd or the order they were ripped to the HD. When I use the Nero DVD ISO/UDF wizzrd it lets me place the files in what ever order I want. However, even when I place the files in the same order of the original dvd the discs will not play on my DVD-ROM or XBOX.

Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

  3. YOU DO NOT NEED A MOD CHIP. Every DVD-R I have created plays flawlessly on my X-Box. You need a mod chip to bypass the media checks so you can play copied xbox games. I have also heard that there is a mod chip that lets you play DIVX files. But for DVD and DVD-R you do not need it. If your DVD-Rs are not playing on your computer I suspect that your buring methods might be the source of the issue. For starters try to get a copy of Primo DVD, as I have had poor results with Nero for DVD recording.

  4. dvd-r's that i have burned with NERO (latest version) have not been successful when playedback on my xbox..............so i switched to PRASSI (veritas) primoDVD and every dvd-r burned using primo have worked in my xbox...but sometimes when i put it in it comes up to the screen where it says it cant reconize the disc but i open and close the drive and it reads it perfect that only happens sometimes

but i think u need to use a different burning program besides NERO

also i use Ritek GOLD dvd-r's ...$1.85 at qtccdr.com (they have dvd-r's that are less than a dollar but i prefer branded ritek GOLDs

  5. My experience also. I always swore by Nero for CD-R, but it sucks big time for DVD-R.

If I burn with Prassi Primo my DVD-R discs will play fine in my sons X-box. If I burn the exact same disc with Nero, they play in the computer using PowerDVD, but will NOT play in the x-box or my Panasonic DVD player.

  6. Thanks for everyone's replies. I finally got it to work using the following if anyone else runs into this problem. I am using PRASSI's PrimoDVD (Veritas) to burn and the Ritek GOLD or Silver dvd-r's from www.qtccdr.com as media. The discs are great quality and much cheaper than that found in the retail stores. I had no problem plaing my order and recieved my shipment in two days.
