cd-r or dvd-r

I am curious to know if i can use my cd writer to burn a svcd onto a dvd? Can anyone here tell me, I used tmpgenc to create a svcd and i was using nero to burn it, but it is too large for an 80 min cd according to nero so i wanted to try a dvd.

if you want to burn a DVD, you need a DVD burner...like the Pioneer DVR-A04
