Well, Premiere 6 is what I use to do this.

    1) Put top video in Video track 1A
    2) Put video to be seen in box in Video track 1B (you MUST resize the video AND move it to the area where you will want it to show).
    3) Create a BITMAP BLACK AND WHITE MASK to define your "small box".
    4) Drag IMAGE MASK transistion to the transition track. It will ask for the IMAGE MASK.
    5) Specify your BITMAP created in 3.
    6) Set the DURATION of the effect.

You're done... either hold down the ALT key and preview your work, or just render everything, then watch. If the two images are reversed (ie, background is in the window and the small clip is on the background) there is an arrow on the transition that you click to reverse everything again.

You have to create the bitmap on your own. Use any graphics program you like. Where you have BLACK, your small video will show... Where you have WHITE, your background will show.

  6. In virtualdub it could be done using the logo filter (any other filter???)
    http://shelob.mordor.net/dgraft/logo13b4.zip

First resize the (smaller) video and save it
as image sequence with 4 digits.

0000.bmp and 0001.bmp and so on.
Create a folder first as you will ending up with alot of small pictures.

In the filter set duration to 1
(or 2 if you want the smaller movie to run at half speed)

No transparent and 255 on alfa.

I have not tested it with more than 9999 frames.

  7. This is done very easily in Ulead Video Studio 6. Add the second video to the overlay track. You can specify 0 to 100 percent transparency. Choose from several preset locations, a custom location, or full screen. There are also motion options available.
