  1. Hello,

I am using ImgTools ver. 0.89 build may 28 2002 and the disk image that it creates is only 10MB. I have tried this with XP and Win98se both give same result.

My VIDEO_TS folder is in D:\AMERICAN_PIE2_UNRATED this is 3.97GB.

The dvd plays fine using IfoEdit 0932 play option and using realmagic player.

I set the ImgTools options to:-

    Select Source Dir: D:\AMERICAN_PIE2_UNRATED
    Drive: I:
I then make the drive and have checked my computer and the drive now exists and the folder VIDEO_TS is there with all the files.

I then proceed to DVD Image:-
    DVD Drive: I:
    Output Image File: E:\APIE2.img
    Volume Title: AMERICAN_PIE2_UNRATED_W

I then check create disc image and get a 10MB file. The drives used above are FAT32 but i have tried it using my NTFS drive as well.

I have read the guides (thanks to all concerned) and got this far, but I am banging my head against a brick wall.

    Please, Please help

PS, using a volume Title bigger than 23 characters produces and exception error after checking create disc image.

I use to have the same problem. More than that, I burned some bad DVD's with RecordNowMAX because of a similar problem. Although the VIDEO_TS folder is 4GB the burned disk had 200 MB on it. Seems that ImgTool behaves unespectetly when you put the files on another drive than c:\. I don't use subst command but I use to make images from drives E:\ and F:\. I put the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders in root E:\ or F:\ and give that to ImgTool as DVD Drive. Then the image was a beautiful file 200MB on size although the movie was 20 times bigger. This problem appears especially if you try to build an image of a split or stream stripped movie (that was on a double layer disc). Somebody told me to put VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS on C:\ and it worked. I tried that a couple of times (because usually I burn my DVD's directly with Nero so I dont use disk images) and I can't tell you that it's going to work all the time but its worth a try. For me worked always from disk C:\. Maybe the program has issues with other drive letters than C:\ ?!!!!?!!!

P.S.: And watch the Volume title. Basically that is a Volume Label and good practice says that it has to be less than 11 characters...

Good Luck and let me know whats happening !

  3. Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.
I have found the problem seems that ImgTools stops if there is a gap in the VTS numbers. I had VIDEO_TS, VTS_01 to VTS_04 etc but I chopped out VTS_05 and VTS_07 as they was not needed.

My 10MB file only contain upto VTS_04. I had to put VTS_05 and 07 back but stip the VOB ID's instead of deleting the file. Now all is OK.
