  1. Can someone help? It's probably a really obvious answer!!

    I have an AVI (Divx) file which is 742MB in size.

    I am trying to compress it to 700MB to fit on to a cd, I have successfuly done this in the past with Virtual Dub.

    When I load the file, I can not see a preview picture. (My first idea was to cut out the credits of the movie)

    Then I used a Bitrate calculator to work out to compress it to fit 700MB.

    When I process it there is no picture in the preview windows (just black) and after compressing there is just sound with black picture!!!

    The bitrate is 915 and the audio 56K-

    is there a solution, or an easier way to shave 40 MB of this film?

    Search Comp PM
    Vdub File > File information

    That will tell you what codec was used, make sure you have it installed.

    Unknown = missing codec

    Video > full processing mode
    Go to > beginning

    That show display it, but make sure your setting under options are selected

    Options > Display Input video
    Options > Display Output video
