I've had this happen to me. The same thing, I burned as I always did using the same media and the same methods. I was using generic blue bottom discs. Then I bought some TDK CDr's and didn't have the problem.
Now for the generic discs I have to burn at 4x when I normally burn at 12x and it works fine. When I use the TDK discs I can burn at 12x. I never found out what caused it I just found that burning at lower speeds for the type of media I normally used fixed it.
