I have seen reports that Via chipsets when used with an AMD processor have problem in video conversion.

There are no problems with the VIA chipset and AMD when making VCDs/SVCDs.

I have been doing this for over 1 year now.

However when I used to use Windows ME on the VIA I did find that problamatic(ie it crashed often), your best using 2000 or XP.

I use an Athlon700 with Via chipset, I had this problem too. But it wasn't dirctly the chipset, it was a defect memory module. Athlons often have another problem: they produce a lot of heat. Be sure, it's properly cooled.

If you suspect it being a problem with the CS then make sure you have the latest driver for the board(ie-4in1 via drivers)
