i have VCD gear, but when i try to transfer this dat to mpeg, it says my dat isnt a dat or has an incorrect sig. what the heck do i do?

Let me try to help you again. If you cant convert dat to mpg with vcdgear. You can try to multiplex with TMPGEnc. First rename .dat to .mpg then multiplex (use MPEG1-VideoCD or MPEG1-VideoCD(non-standard) if you are not sure) under mpeg tool in TMPGEnc any version.
