using DVD decrypter, but the directions from the guide say you must have a DVD that is under 4,718,592,000 bytes, but there are few DVD's now a day that are that size. Can some one give advice on how I can practice and be proficient at burning with these bench marks? I hope I get some good feed back, my other questions have been answered with some irritation, but I'm sure some of you remember what being a newbie was like. Thank you

What exactly are trying to do? What is the end result you want vcd, svcd, divx, dvd-r? I'll help you all I can but I need to know what you are trying to do.
Oh by the way that 4.7gb number sounds as though you are looking at a dvd-r quide. -
Thanks allot cchitson11, I want to take a DVD movie and burn it to a DVD-r with my new DVD burner. Does this help?

The 4.7 is the amount that will fit on a dvd-r( Actually it's more like 4.3 that's what I would stay below). To get below 4.3gb you either have to re-encode (lower bitrate) or split the dvd between 2 dvd-rs. Commercial Dvds are dual layer (9.4gb). There is no dual layer Dvd-r. You have to figure out if you want your backup on 2 dvd-rs(Exact copy) or 1 dvd-r (small loss in quality). I usually re-encode to fit on one disk. Sometimes (if the Movie is shorter then 2hrs) You get lucky and don't have to re-encode if you strip out menus, extra, features and languages. So basically you need to figure out which method you want to use and I'll do my best to help.
