    Just wondering if this firmware stuff is worth possibly destroying my new dvd burner? Could someone please tell what the point of downloading new firmwares for your drives are and what the differences are after you download it? Appreciate it....

    the differences are dependent on the burner you have .. and the revision of firmware .

    Ok, so i have the Pioneer DVR-104. Now what would be the point of downloading the "newest firmware"? I heard that Pioneer's website offer firmware upgrades? I just want to know if something like this is a necessity? Also, if things like this can break your drive, then why would people like the Pioneer Comp. offer it?
