  1. I have an WinXP, Athlon 1.2, 396MB RAM, Seagate Cheetah 15K, SCSI160 machine fitted with a SoundBlaster Audigy player and a WinTV PVR-PCI board.

Basically the sound recorded by the WinTV card is awful.

It sounds like the cymbals are swirling around your head, a real swishy and splashy sound.

All the EAX effects are off, and the straight capture of the VHS Stereo tape with the sound card software is perfect.

Strangely the sound is better in the VCD capture mode, it's all the MPEG-2 capture modes that suck!

I did the registry mode to get the advanced Settings the the capture dialog and upped the Sound capture rate >192 but it made no difference and the setting is no remembered.

    Now I'm stuck, any ideas?

    thanks

    Cliff

  2. I should have said that I'm capturing a PAL-VHS music tape that sounds just fine when playing through the WINTV card.

Also the Picture doesn't seem centred properly, I get a 5mm black border down the right edge and some picture breakup (scan lines don't line up) on the bottom 5 or so scan lines.
