cant play vcd after burning

burned several movies previously using this excellent guide
this time i thought i would burn Planet of the apes onto one cd
as this is a long movie 110mins i had to lower bitrate to 700 and
sound to 128. mpeg movie plays fine from hard drive.
used nero to burn as vcd but cannot play the disc in either power dvd
or windows media player

I take you know which file to choose on VCD when playing in WMP, right?
