I used Tmpeg's Mpeg Tools to create an SVCD from Vob file. I created an mp2 so the audio would be compatible. I opened the VOB in video and the MP2 in audio. Selected SVCD stream, clicked run and it created an SVCD file. It would play in PowerDVD. After breaking it into 800MB chunks I burned it and played it in my DVD player. Surprisingly it player wothout a hitch enen tho it was at DVD bitrate 5000 average,9800 peak .My Sampo DVE612 played it perfectly but my Daewoo 5800 played with audio dropouts, but the video was perfect. Not sure if this method is of any use.
