I have ripped a DVD onto my harddrive, but every time I try to encode using a piece of software including FlaskMPEG, DVD2avi, or XPMEG, it either just exits like FlaskMPEG; DVD2avi, XPMEG, or mpeg2avi pop up with an 'Illegal Operation' error. I have a fast system (1900+, 512 PC2700, 80 gig ATA 133). I dual boot into either XP or 98se, and it doesn't work in either! I tried on a 900 Athlon, but it converts very slowly.. I am very frustrated, because i have tried using divx 3.11a, 4, and 5.0.2 pro. Any ideas?
Also, I have seen many video clips encoded with divx 4 and 5 that are much worse in quality and much larger than 3.11 alpha. Which is the best to use?
Thanks.
