  1. If i skip a step in the TMPG, will this affect whether or not my DVD is widescreen on a stand alone DVD player?

This is what i did, i followed the tutorial here

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/sefy/?id=ClassicalGuide.html

However, when it came to the VCD easy software, i added the file and then click go....but the 'BURN' checkbox was check, in the screen shown here.

So when i clicked "GO", it burned the CD and i never finished the remaining Bin/Cue thing. Could this be the reason why SVCD went to 4:3 Display on my Sony DVD player???

    thanks

Your 4:3 issue has nothing to do with VCDEASY. Your problem is with your input selection in TMPGENC. Your video source should be selected as 16:9 aspect ratio. I believe the default is always 4:3, therefore you must always change this. (of course if your input file is 4:3, leave it as is.)

    could it be something else?

  4. That's the setting for the source aspect ratio - you need to set the target aspect ratio - I don't think you can change that using the wizard - you have to do it on the main video window.

  6. cancel the tmpg wizard then you can see the main video window.
(your tmpg seems like an older ver.)
try to find the setting tab >vedio
find aspect ratio tab then set 16*9 (thats target aspect ratio).
